WHEN AND WHY FIRE DAY CELEBRATED
Various programs will be organized to awaken citizens regarding fire prevention and caution under firefighting week. Its aim is to make citizens aware of the damage caused by firefighters.
The firefighting week (dated 14th April to
20th April) was inaugurated by the director of the airport Jollygrant,Dehraun,Vinod Kumar Sharma.During the firefighting center, all the
officers and employees present during the ceremony were paid tribute to
the martyred firefighters.
WHEN AND WHY FIRE DAY CELEBRATED
Fire Day or National Fire Service Day (English: Fire Service Day) is celebrated every year on April 14th. On April 14, 1944, a port of Fortistikan, a ship in Mumbai port, was packed with rubbish bullets, explosives and war equipment. Due
to the explosive material in the vessel, while fire extinguishing the
fire, 66 firefighters came under the grip of fire and martyred. This day is celebrated throughout the country in order to offer tribute to these martyrs and to suggest measures to save fire.

During
the program, Mr. Vinod Sharma, Director of the Airport extended the
enthusiasm of all the fire personnel and said that all the officers and
employees working in the service of the pilots will always be able to
carry out their work in the safe custody of the passengers. During the
program, Mr. Nethrapal Singh , Shri Prakash Chand, Mr. Satpal, Sudeep, Praveen and other firefighterswere present.
