After handing over the reins of the National Lok Dal President Ajit Singh, now the son of Jayant Chaudhary has decided to take up the political battle in the traditional Baghpat Lok Sabha seat to contest the election battle. Former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh was MP from Baghpat seat of UP. After his demise, son Ajit Singh contested for the first time in the Lok Sabha election.
National Lok Dal, which is facing political upsurge after the Muzaffarnagar riots, is still considered to be a bigger base in West UP. RLD maintains a change in the status of a political picture in Meerut, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Moradabad and Agra divisions. Almost 80 years old, Ajit Singh has now completely handed over the organization to son Jayant Chaudhary to pursue the party. The leaders coming to discuss policy matters are also asked to meet Jayant Chaudhary.
According to a party official, there is also a plan to set up Jayant Chaudhary behind Ajit's goodwill visit. According to the office-bearer, Ajit has also decided to cast Jayant Chaudhary on his traditional Baghpat Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Chaudhary believes that in 2024, Jayant will be late in taking off from Baghpat. Actually, the Chaudhary family is occupying this seat. The family had to face defeat once Sompal Shastri and Doctor Satyapal Singh for the second time.
After the demise of Chaudhary Charan Singh in 1989, Ajit Baghpat fought and won. Now he is seeking to transfer the Baghpat seat son Jayant. RLD's state general secretary, Dr. Rajkumar Sangwan says that we are a soldier of the party. Will send Ajit Singh and Jayant Chaudhary from any of the West UP seats.
