As per as chardham yatra time is coming nearby inspection of pedestrian trail from Kedarnath to Gaurikund done quickly by DM rudrprayag. He expressed anger at the slow pace of work and directed to speed it up. The DM directed the Public Works Department (PWD) officials that if any contractor delays construction work on foot trail, then he should be removed and replaced by another contractor. The trail route should be finished at any cost before the start of ‘Chardham Yatra’.
The DM said that a JE (Junior Engineer) should be deployed on regular basis at places where the construction work is going on. Those JEs who are not found deployed at their places, suspension proceedings be initiated against them. Only 20 labourers are working from Rudra Point to Bhairav Gadhera. Work of about 600 meters is still to be done. The DM said that the number of labourers should be increased so that the work can be completed on time. The DM found that breadth of the foot trail was less than the set quality and standards, for which he instructed the concerned departmental officers to carry out the work in accordance with quality and standards.
During inspection of the pedestrian track, its construction under the Chani camp was found to be going at a very slow speed. The DM instructed the contractor that if the work is not completed within three days, then he will be removed and some other contractor will be given the construction work. A total of 16 contractors are working from Rudra Point to Bhimbali. The DM inspected the entire route and instructed them to complete the work in time.
Meanwhile, the DM also inspected the new Medical Point. Simultaneously, he also instructed to build shops on empty spots present near foot trail. He also directed the Electricity Department to fix the path immediately at many places where power line has been laid underground but the path has not been corrected.
The DM also inspected the works of the Irrigation Department in Gaurikund. Along with that, he also inspected the stone-cutting machines in Sonprayag and instructed them to speed up the work. Later, the DM took a meeting of officials in the PWD Inspection Building (Lonivi Nirikshan Bhawan) Guptakashi. The DM directed PWD to send a regular report of the construction works being carried out on the pedestrian trail from Kedarnath to Gaurikund. The contractors were also instructed to increase labors to speed up the construction work. He said that only a month's time is left for the ‘Chardham Yatra’ to begin, and work should be done with such speed that all arrangements can be fully made in time.
